It is incorrect to say that Sardar Patel had any bias towards Muslims. There were definite differences between Jawaharlal Nehru and Vallabhbhai Patel on their policies and perceptions on vital issues. However, it would be erroneous to believe that he was anti-Muslim and harboured any bitterness towards them. He tried to take every possible step to bring Hindus and Muslims closer. Sardar Patel was very sympathetic towards the refugees who were being forced out of their homes by Muslims in West Pakistan as well as from the then East Pakistan (now Bangladesh).
