India's National Security: A Reader (Critical Issues in Indian Politics) is a book that talks about critical issues in Indian politics, talking about the matter of security in our country. It is penned by two leading national experts on the national security system who have achieved international acclaim for the work. The book goes on to discuss the important challenges of security that the nation faces today.
It is divided into four sections, each of which extensively elaborates on different areas of the same concern. Some of the various topics that the authors talk about include the problems of insurgency, nuclear issues, terrorism, defence programmes, and strategic stability that the country has been grappling with for quite some time now. The book goes into in-depth detail about the internal security measures taken by the Indian government to protect our country. The history of nuclear issues has been dealt with, starting from the year 1947, including the nuclear tests of 1998, and discussing the country's relationship with its neighbours regarding the same. Topics which have been given special emphasis include those of insurgency and terrorism, domestic danger, and how India has dealt with them. The book ends with a list of defence measures and reforms that the country should take up and start implementing.
