Forensic science pertains to the employment of science for the administration of justice. It relates to the application of scientific methods and techniques to the investigation of crime. Forensic science embraces all branches of science besides engineering and psychology. It includes primarily applied aspects of physics, chemistry, medicine, anthropology, zoology, botany. fingerprints, geology, Odonotology, biochemistry, microbiology, molecular biology, photography, Ballistics, explosives, speaker voice identification, Brain mapping, and narco analysis. It helps in providing appropriate opinion after examining and analyzing the evidence recovered from crime scenes. There are plenty of books available on the subject matter of forensic science where the authors have explained the contribution of various scientific techniques that have been employed by forensic scientists in providing reports for presentation in the court of law. In the present book, the author has made an attempt to keep in view the requirements of not only the forensic scientists working in C.F.S.Ls and State FSLs across the country & police officers involved in the investigation and practicing lawyers but also of students of MSc (Forensic Science). This book consists of more than 60 chapters. Each chapter pertains to a sub-discipline of forensic science and explains the intricacies of the scientific techniques that are employed in analyzing the evidence recovered from crime scenes. The first chapter provides an introduction to the subject of Forensic science and its areas of operation. The relationship between police and forensic scientist and a detailed history of the development of forensic science in the country have also been discussed. The subsequent chapters of the book highlight the use of a scientific methodology that is used in the forensic laboratories for analyzing and interpreting, circumstantial, and trace evidence recovered from crime scenes by the investigating officers.
