Indian Administration Amreshwar Avasthi

Dr. Amreshwar Avasthi is a well-known name in the field of Public Administration in India. Prof. Avasthi had a brilliant academic innings and had won a large number of fellowships and awards in India and the U.S.A. He got published more than a dozen books and 100 articles in standard national and international journals. His works include Public Administration, Lok Prashasan, Municipal Administration in India, Aspects of Administration, Revenue Inspections at the District Level, Central Administration, Local Self- Government in M.P., Bureaucracy and Development, India in Perspective, Crisis Administration in India. Prof. Avasthi has had a long teaching career extending over 50 years. He has taught at Lucknow, Nagpur, Jabalpur, IIPA and Sagar and has been a guest lecturer at LBSNAA, Mussoorie, National Police Academy. National Institute of Rural Development, Railway Staff College and other institutions. One of the pioneers in the field of Public Administration in India; he was the President of Indian Public Administration Association, a member of M.P. Administrative Reforms Commission, Chairman and Honorary Director of M.P. Institute of Social Science Research, Ujjain and Vice-Chancellor of Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur. Prof. Avasthi was honoured by the M.P. State Government for his outstanding work in the field of Social Science by awarding him 50,000/-. In May 1995, Dr. Amreshwar Avasthi National Research in Social Science Institute has been established in Bhubaneswar. Amreshwar Avasthi Research Centre in Public Administration, Management and Environment has been set up in Rourkela.
